Bibliometric analysis of the textile industry 2011–2021

The textile industry is one of the world's most important economic activities within the manufacturing sector. Beginning in the mid-18th century, this industry developed in countries such as Great Britain, France, Belgium, and the United States. This study aims to compile, review, and synthesize existing publications regarding the textile industry. To this end, a bibliometric analysis was conducted on articles related to the subject published between 2011 and 2021 in open-access databases such as Redalyc, SciELO, and CLASE. The results indicate that the highest volume of research was produced between 2019 and 2020; research in this industry has been led primarily by men; Mexico accounts for the largest number of publications, the majority of which are in Spanish; and there is significant opportunity in this field for research into technology and innovation for new production processes focused on sustainability.
